C.B.F. at the Binghamton University and Broome Community College

This has undoubtedly been one of our better years of ministry at Binghamton University and Broome Community College in upstate New York. Although our groups this year were not large, God blessed us with some quality students.

The main Bible study on Thursday nights at BU averaged around 20 in attendance, and we had one or two small group studies each week. We also had a few individual studies throughout the year. The group at BCC ran seven to eight on a good week. Second semester we investigated some other religions our students had asked about, which provided for some memorable evenings. A rabbi shared a brief overview of Judaism, we examined Jehovah's Witnesses, and we viewed a video on Mormonism. A Mormon student, seeing the posters about this meeting, attended and we had a lively discussion with him.

Canoe Trip

We had several exciting activities, beginning with a Canoe Trip, which was followed up with a picnic. The Fall Retreat drew students from Cornell University as well as our local campuses. Our speaker, a CBF alumnus from BU who is now a Baptist pastor, used his own testimony along with Scripture to encourage them to survive spiritually as well as academically on their campuses. Later in the fall, we had a Hayride and Bonfire and our annual Thanksgiving Dinner, which is prepared and served by a Baptist church located near the BU campus. This is always one of our biggest events, and 75 attended this year's dinner, which included a great program of music, testimonies, and drama by our students.

Second semester activities included a Super Bowl Party, Valentine Banquet, Winter Retreat, and year-end Picnic, as well as various informal gatherings. Four of our students graduated, and will be greatly missed. One student came to faith in Christ, and three others followed the Lord in believer's baptism in the course of the school year.

The Lord has blessed our efforts on these campuses this year, and we rejoice in all that He has done and continues to do in and through the lives of our students.
