CAMPUS BIBLE FELLOWSHIP IN SOUTH BEND INDIANA

There are 10,000 students at the University of Notre Dame, 90% of whom are Roman Catholics. 800 internationals from 111 different countries are studying here. The large number of Catholics and Charismatics in the South Bend area is reflected on the campuses.

The Discipleship Center
Campus Bible Fellowship is an off campus ministry which operates through the Discipleship Center located just across the street from the Notre Dame campus. Some at the university don't want the name of Campus Bible Fellowship known to any of the Notre Dame students. We were threatened that if caught doing “pastoral ministry” on the Notre Dame campus, a letter would be issued which would warrant our arrest for trespassing on the university grounds. Despite the threats from the university, the Lord is mightier than Notre Dame and has supplied contacts on a yearly basis. The Lord gave one staff worker an opportunity to share the Gospel with 65 Notre Dame students at once! Through the friendship family program, teaching English as a Second Language, off campus one-on-one discipleship opportunities and group Bible studies, this CBF ministry continues to grow.

Indiana University of South Bend (IUSB) has about 8,000 students. There are no dormitories; so most students commute to campus. The university allows CBF to be on campus so that Bible studies can be conducted in classrooms each week. There are approximately 200 international students at IUSB. Some of the opportunities CBF has on this campus are a weekly literature table, group Bible studies, one-on-one Bible studies, counseling, and teaching New Testament Greek to students.

A Friday Evening Fellowship
Friday evenings are a time for either an off campus Bible study or activities at the Discipleship Center. These are designed for students from different campuses and college age young people. The goal is to teach college students to disciple others even while they are in college.

Our ministries are unique in that one of them is off campus and the other is on a commuter campus. There is a tremendous need for more workers here. The potential is great. Please prayerfully consider helping us in this needy mission field in South Bend.
