THE MINISTRY IN THE SOUTH BEND, INDIANA AREA

The South Bend, Indiana area and the Michiana area have a unique opportunity for ministry for Campus Bible Fellowship. This area is predominantly Catholic and Charismatic (not just Charismatic Catholic), thus presenting different challenges to minister to students. There are many campuses located in this area with great potential for CBF work: Holy Cross Junior College, Davenport College, St.Mary's College, Michiana College, Ivy Tech, Purdue Extension in South Bend, and Bethel College.

literature table Campus Bible Fellowship is recognized on campus at Indiana University of South Bend, a commuter campus with an enrollment of over 8,000 students. The Lord has opened the door for CBF to meet on campus as much as four times per week. The group also has a literature table once a week, a bulletin board next to the bookstore, and free e-mail.

The missionaries live in a campus house across the street from Notre Dame university. Campus Bible Fellowship operates as an off campus ministry to this university of 10,000 students. Even though the university has given CBF many restrictions, including not to come on campus and share the gospel, God has not closed the door for ministry here. There are more than enough student contacts through which we can work. Group picture The Lord provides contacts through many different means to allow us to have one-on-one studies off campus in the campus house discipleship center so these students can teach other students. Also there are activities and Bible studies on Friday evenings that the Notre Dame students can attend. Both of these campuses have enrolled about 1,000 international students.

Stephen and Charlene Giegerich have served at this station since 1990. The local churches in the Area Liaison Committee are the foundation for this ministry. The key to this ministry is the discipling of students to disciple other students. Staff are having studies with students who are doing studies with other students or other college age young people. This will help these students grow as well as the area churches and the CBF group.

The needs are great here for staff. There are at least 20 ladies who need to be in a one-on-one Bible study. We do need help! Please pray and ask the Lord to send forth laborers into His harvest and what He would have you do in your involvement in Campus Bible Fellowship. Pray also for us that "the Lord will supply all our need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
